Industrial dust collectors
Baghouse, cartridge and cyclone collectors, designed and built in Gauteng and sized to your dust, airflow and space.
Baghouse
Pulse-jet filter bags. High dust loads, hot gas, continuous duty.
Cartridge
Pleated cartridges in a compact cabinet. Fume and fine dry dust.
Cyclone
No filters. Coarse dust, or pre-separation ahead of a filter.
Which collector suits your dust?
The table is a starting point. The final choice depends on particle size, temperature, moisture, whether the dust is combustible, and how many hours the plant runs. We confirm it on site.
| Question | Baghouse | Cartridge | Cyclone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Heavy, continuous dust loads and hot gas | Fume and fine, dry, light dust | Coarse and heavy particles, pre-separation |
| Fine dust capture | Excellent | Excellent | Limited on fine dust |
| Hot gas | Yes, with high-temperature media | Limited | Yes |
| Sticky or damp dust | Possible with coated media | Not recommended | Handles it, with care on wear |
| Footprint | Largest | Compact | Small, but tall |
| Filter change | From the clean-air plenum, top or walk-in | From the front, at floor level | No filters |
| Running cost | Compressed air, bags every few years | Compressed air, cartridges more often | Fan power only |
What every collector we build includes
- Filtration media chosen for your dust: German-made media as standard, with options for high temperature, high moisture and abrasive dust.
- Self-cleaning pulse-jet action controlled by a microprocessor sequencer, so the filters stay clean while the plant runs.
- A hopper and discharge to suit how you handle the dust: rotary valve, screw conveyor, bin or bag-off.
- A differential pressure gauge so your maintenance team can see filter condition at a glance.
- Fan and motor sized to the system resistance, not just the collector.
Standard size range
Our standard units handle 1 m³/s to 36 m³/s of air (3,600 to about 130,000 m³/h). Larger and special-duty collectors are designed to order.
Not sure of your airflow? We measure it on site, or estimate it from your hood and duct sizes.
FAQ
What is the difference between a baghouse and a dust collector?
A baghouse is one type of dust collector. It filters air through fabric bags. Cartridge collectors, cyclones and wet scrubbers are other types. In South Africa people often say baghouse, bag filter or dust extractor for the same thing.
How do I size a dust collector?
Start with the airflow needed to capture dust at every source, which comes from hood design and duct velocity. The collector is then sized so the air passes through enough filter area at the right speed for your dust. We do this on a free site visit.
Do you build collectors for outside installation?
Yes. Most of our baghouses stand outside, with weatherproof panels, access platforms and ladders where needed.
Can you replace a collector without stopping production for long?
Usually, yes. We fabricate the new unit off site and plan the change-over around your shutdown, often over a weekend.
Send us your dust problem
Tell us what you are extracting, roughly how much air, and where the unit will stand. We will come back with a sizing and a quote. A site visit is free in Gauteng.
