Compact filtration

Cartridge dust collectors

Pleated cartridges fit far more filter area into a small cabinet. Filters change from the front at floor level, so the unit fits under low roofs and into tight bays.

Where a cartridge collector makes sense

A cartridge collector works on the same principle as a baghouse: dusty air passes through the filter, dust stays on the outside, and compressed-air pulses clean the filters on line. The difference is the filter. A pleated cartridge folds a large area of media into a short cylinder, so the cabinet is much smaller for the same airflow.

That makes cartridges the natural choice for fume and fine, dry, light dust, especially inside a factory where floor space and roof height are limited.

Typical uses

  • Welding fume extraction for welding bays and robotic cells.
  • Laser, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting tables.
  • Thermal spray and metallising.
  • Pharmaceutical and fine chemical powders.
  • Powder coating booth recovery and after-filters.
  • Grinding and polishing with dry, non-sticky dust.

Why cartridge

  • More filter area in a smaller footprint.
  • Front-access filter change at floor level, with no confined-space entry into a plenum.
  • Suits low ceilings and limited floor space.
  • Good capture of sub-micron welding fume.

When not to use one

Cartridge pleats can pack with heavy, sticky, damp or fibrous dust, and they do not suit hot gas. For those duties a baghouse is the better choice. We will tell you which one fits.

Welding fume needs proper capture

Welding fume is fine enough to stay airborne and reach deep into the lungs. A cartridge collector is only half the answer. The other half is capture at the source: extraction arms, downdraft or backdraft benches, or hoods over robotic cells. We design both together so fume is caught before it reaches the welder's breathing zone.

Cartridge media options

  • Cellulose-polyester blend for general dry dust.
  • Spun-bond polyester for better release and washable service.
  • Nanofibre surface layers for welding and thermal cutting fume.
  • Flame-retardant media where sparks may reach the filter.
Questions we get asked

FAQ

Is a cartridge collector better than a baghouse?

Neither is better in general. Cartridges are smaller and easier to service for fume and fine dry dust. Baghouses handle heavier loads, hot gas and difficult dust better.

How often do cartridges need replacing?

Usually every one to two years in steady welding or cutting service. Sticky dust, oil mist or poor pulse settings shorten that.

Can you supply replacement cartridges for other makes?

Yes. Send us the cartridge dimensions or part number and we will quote a compatible replacement. See filter bags and spares.
